Occasionally our customers ask us for products that people can rely on in extreme environmental conditions such as very cold, very hot, highly humid or in pathogenic conditions.
‘Extreme Environmental’ conditions make a lot of hindrances in the proper functioning of many products that are available in the market. In order to avoid these problems and risks in hazardous situations we have to think about products that are compatible with all the extreme conditions of the nature.
To start with, consider a mission critical situation where a lot of gadgets may be required and the environment is surrounded with explosions or fire, we will need to have all the gadgets both fire retardant and water proof for the perfect functioning of the products. They should also be able to withstand the temperature. Likewise, a medical emergency in a cold desert will need everything in and around to withstand the freezing temperature.
People might come across a lot of unexpected harsh environments and the failure of the products during such emergencies are unacceptable. As a product designer you might have faced such problems from the clients and would have supported them with ruggedized solutions that stand up to them.
Using an electronic device in a coal or crude oil field is hazardous as the natural gases associated with such oil deposits poses an explosion hazard. Electronic devices can be risky because they could create sparks. So, to avoid such sparks mostly used electronic devices in an oil field are designed to be intrinsically safe that they cannot be release enough energy to create any sparks. Likewise, metals and plastics in extreme cold becomes brittle, push buttons gets stiff, batteries could get damaged. Wet and Salt wet areas rusts metals, degrades chemicals and erodes material. Pathogenic conditions affect both the user and the product with infections and to avoid infections the instruments and products used in such conditions have to be heat resistant, water proof to clean and wipe the products.
Now, designing such products need expertise and creativity. “Extreme conditions call for Extreme creativity.” Clients having ideas of products or with half developed products comes to us realizing that it would not be able to comply with the challenges or hazards posed by a hostile environment. Our expertise in product design and engineering will intuitively make us to decide the properties that the product should possess and we create constraints for the design. We have done a lot of water proof, rust proof and shock proof designs for our various clients. We also conduct tests and checks the compatibility of the products that we design and manufacture.
